The instruments decide what can be promised

A practice can only commit to what its instruments can measure. Here are ours, and what they make possible.

3D capture

  • Trimble SX10

    3D laser scanner

    since 2019

    Dense capture of structures and buildings, with an integrated robotic total station. It sets the reference everything else is registered to.

  • NavVis VLX 2

    Wearable SLAM scanner

    since 2024

    Mobile mapping of complex interiors and large volumes, captured on the move. Georeferenced onto control points surveyed with the SX10.

    • Two 16-layer LiDAR sensors and four 20 MP cameras
    • 360° capture without the operator in frame
    • Georeferencing via total station and GNSS
    • Up to 10× faster than a static scanner (manufacturer figure)

Airborne

    Fixed-wing drone

    since 2019

    Photogrammetric coverage of large extents, where a multirotor would not have the endurance.

  • DJI Phantom 4 RTK

    RTK multirotor drone

    since 2019

    Small sites, constrained locations and close-range capture, with onboard RTK positioning.

    • Vertical take-off and landing on constrained sites
    • RTK positioning: fewer ground control points required
    • Slow, low flight for fine detail
    • Construction monitoring and structure inspection

Ground survey

    Robotic total stations

    since 2018

    Detail survey and setting out by a single operator, the robotic instrument tracking the prism.

    Optical total stations

    since 2000

    The baseline capacity: seven instruments mean several crews can be deployed on separate sites the same day.

GNSS positioning

  • Trimble R8S, R12, R2

    RTK GNSS receivers

    since 2021

    Centimetre positioning and tying surveys into the national system. Five bases and several rovers allow parallel work across sites.

    • 5 base and 2 rover Trimble R8S units
    • Trimble R12 and R2 for RTX/RTK and static work
    • Trimble TSC and TDC field controllers
    • Registration of drone missions and SLAM captures

Processing and output

    Capture is only half the work. Point clouds and survey data are processed in house, through to A0 plotted drawings.
